Like OMG I so totally like this product, YOLO SWAG. :p

Lorna Loves – Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid lipstick by theBalm cosmetics.

Meet Matt(e) Hughes
Matt Hughes likes milkshakes and pretty shades of pink.

Now at this point you probably have some questions, like who exactly is Matt Hughes and why is this lipstick named after him or why is this strange lady telling me about this stuff? Well if you’re on my blog I can presume you already know the answer to question two, but just for kicks and giggles, here it is. Lorna Loves is going to be an ongoing segment for me to rant about products that I adore. They must be rated four or five Lornas to qualify. Every review and article featured on my website will be my own, honest, unforced opinion and if the product was sent to me for free in exchange for a review I will always mention it in the article. Furthermore, I’ll never mislead you, even if I was given a complimentary product, all opinions are my own and will remain so; ain’t nobody got time to be a corporate puppet, foo’.

Pro Tip: If you prefer to skip straight to the rating and a handy list of pros and cons of the product, go to the bottom of the article!

The Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid lipstick is a product I received in this month’s Ipsy bag. I’ll admit it, I was sceptical. On first look there is cute, vintage packaging, featuring a man and a woman drinking a milkshake while the title of the lipstick hovers above their head! Opening the container to apply Meet Matt(e) Hughes led to more doubts, it seemed a little goopy and the ‘Commitment shade’ I received was very similar to a lip gloss I already owned. When I leaned forward to sniff it, though, I became intrigued. It didn’t smell of gross chemicals like a lot of lipsticks, but had a pleasant mint smell with just a hint of vanilla. The only scent I prefer over Bubblegum is Mint. Thank Goodness it wasn’ strong vanilla though; that stuff gives me migraines.

Commit yourself to my mouth, glorious lipstick.

Willing to chance the product (after all I’d already bought it) I used the lip gloss applicator to apply a generous coating to my lips. I wasn’t sure what to expect, or what exactly a ‘Liquid Lipstick’ was. I can tell you now, thanks to theBalm’s Liquid lipstick. It’s a lipstick that applies like a gloss, using a wand, but very quickly dries to a beautiful lipstick consistency (in this case Matte).

Meet Matt(e) Hughes Commitment
Well there is one place I’d be committed…

I’m super glad I received this product in my Ipsy bag because normally I’d consider it a little out of my price range at $17 , but having seen the result, I’d happily pay that when this bottle runs out. Meet Matt(e) Hughes dries beautifully, fast and stays put all day. It didn’t rub off during eating, drinking or kissing once it was dry. I’ve always had a problem with having very deep indentations in my lips, since I used to bite them a lot when I was younger. Unfortunately, many lip stains or lipsticks exaggerate that. I would call this a miracle product simply for the fact that my lips looked totally smooth and glam when it was on them. It does have a vintage feel to it and goes great with a bit of winged eyeliner and mascara with other makeup being kept subtle.
