Thanks to Bzzagent I had the chance to try a new foundation from Covergirl Outlast and really, I needed it. We all know we’re supposed to dispose of our makeup after a certain amount of time, but up until this year I only wore makeup about once a year and it seemed a waste, so my current foundation is pretty old.

I was chosen to test out the Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 foundation. Since I’m basically a ghost, I tried out the Classic Ivory shade. After checking the website though, I saw there was a shade paler, simply called ‘Ivory’ and I would really recommend that shade for people with my skin color as I feel it fits better.
The really exciting feature of this foundation is the 3-in-1; that means that as well as a foundation, there’s a primer and a concealer included. This was ideal as I only recently started using primer and I’m very lazy with my cosmetics routine. Anything that cuts down on my makeup application time is something I want the chance to try!
However, it may not be the perfect fit for everyone. Covergirl made a handy quiz you can fill out to see which of their foundations fits your makeup style.
So how did the Covergirl Outlast foundation do?
Frankly, pretty well. Application was painless and easy. It did require a tad more rubbing than my current foundation though, not absorbing as easily. This is possibly because of the added concealer and primer, making it a thicker base, so make sure to check for streaks before you continue with other products. I really liked the coverage it provided and it lasted all day while giving a really subtle cover. It wasn’t in your face or over the top, which is perfect for me.
I also noticed it reduced shine heavily and covered up my blemishes really well. I did find it reduced the look of my pores! I’d say the ideal application is two light coats, if you have heavily visible pores. Don’t take my word for it though, here you can see my unaltered (no photoshop or filters!) half-and-half face comparison of the product against my bare skin.
The only big downside of this product as I did find it had that annoying thing that foundations have where it tends to highlight the peeling or dry areas of your skin, especially on the sides of my nose. However, after applying a translucent powder on top (which is part of my makeup routine) the dry parts weren’t noticeable anymore. I would definitely recommend the use of a powder on top if you plan to use Covergirl Outlast as your basic foundation.
Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 also features an SPF which is ideal for someone with very pale skin. I also take medication that makes my skin sun sensitive, so to have an SPF included in my foundation is incredibly handy. I was surprised and pleased that it didn’t smell weird either. It doesn’t have a pleasant or unpleasant smell, just a non-smell, especially when compared to my old foundation.
My time testing this foundation was definitely a good one and it’s a replacement for my outdated foundation that left my skin feeling dry and cakey. It’s not a 100% perfect foundation, but it does an amazing job for the price and it works for someone like me, who doesn’t need a heavy duty base.
